How Zenproxy works

A proxy sits between your app and the destination.

Zenproxy forwards compatible traffic through the proxy endpoint you choose. The destination sees the proxy's public IP for that connection rather than the direct route from your app.

Three parts, clearly separated.

A proxy is not magic. Understanding the route helps users choose the right protocol and setup.

01 · Your application

Your browser, app or tool starts the connection.

The application must either support proxy settings directly or use a platform-specific method that sends its traffic through the configured proxy.

02 · Zenproxy endpoint

The proxy accepts the supported request.

Zenproxy receives the proxy connection, applies the selected route and forwards compatible traffic toward the destination.

03 · Destination

The destination communicates with the proxy endpoint.

For the proxied connection, the public source address presented to the destination is the proxy endpoint's address.

Important distinction

A proxy is not the same thing as a VPN.

Proxy

Usually applies to specific apps or protocols that are configured to use the proxy.

VPN

Typically creates a system-level tunnel intended to carry a broader set of device traffic.
